I have been hosting Outlaw Radio Chicago for just about 2 years. I focus on playing independent artists in the current underground Country, Bluegrass and Rockabilly scenes.
I grew up on Punk Rock, and still have a strong passion for it. Not that shit you hear like Green Day or New Found Glory, I have a love for the crust/street music like Choking Victim and the Unseen. My love for punk turned me onto "Outlaw Country" when I was young. My first taste of Country was Waylon Jennings and from there it lead to Hank, Cash, and Merle, etc.
Then in 2004 or so, I discovered this whole new form of current country that is influenced by the classics. Hank III would be the forefront in this genre, but there are hundreds of artists out there that will never get the time of day on corporate radio and that is why I started Outlaw Radio.
I hate the name "Outlaw Radio". I feel it is cliche and dull, but at the point, it is too late to change the name, so you (and I) are stuck with it!
