Band's Influences
The Pioneers of the Wild (north) West
About The Band
"Diggin' the songs!" - Mike Badger, co-founder, 'The La's'
"...real Roy Orbison meets Chris Isaak and beats the shite out of him. Love it guys!" - Frenchflier Aire du Launcment Radio
"Mix influences from The Beatles, Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley and The La's and what do you get? Answer: the quirkily charming sounds of Postcards...One of Lincoln's finest!" - David Bash, Inernational Pop Overthrow
Lincoln based, four-piece, bigbeat/folk rock band.
Inspired by the Pioneers of the Wild (north) West and capturing the raw, early Merseybeat sound.
Formed at the end of 2009, with singer and songwriter, James Styring, placing an ad for the musicians to bring his songs to life.
"...somewhere between early Roy Orbison and a mid-90's Quentin Tarantino film soundtrack!" - East Midlands Music Network
With invites to play the International Pop Overthrow music festival, at the world famous Cavern Club, Liverpool and a prestigious support slot with, 'Mike Badger and The Shady Trio' (co-founder, 'The La's'), the band, (now comprising of, Col Lewis - bass guitar, Adam Nisbet - guitar and Nick Christopher - drums), would step up a gear and enter the recording studio, with top Liverpool producer, Fran Ashcroft, (The Quarrymen, Lee Mavers), to record their debut single, 'BONES O' ME' / 'GIRL OH WHY'
"...impassioned, freewheeling, life celebrating. New song, 'Girl Oh Why', could actually have been a rediscovered early Lennon & McCartney composition, with it's full-on fabtastic beat" - Lincolnbands.co.uk
Postcards From Places That Don't Exist continue to build on their following, playing gigs in and around their home city of Lincoln, as well as nationwide.
And with possible dates in the U.S. pencilled in for late 2011/early 2012 and a great new single to promote, the band look set to capitalize on the wave of momentum and positive feedback, they are creating.
"Something undeniably affable and charming here...life has just been affirmed for you" - Lincolnbands.co.uk
