About The Band
Mettaya's sound was borne out of a psychedelic cauldron attended by homeless witches in a back alley in Venice Beach, steeped in the same heady waters as Jim Morrison back when, this band's original lineup included an illegally in-country Canadian poet snuck into the States by Bob Dylan's Mistress, a former member of The Temptations on bass, a convicted bank robber on drums, all fleshing out the compositions of Dan Muench while piled into a rusty old van. In it's current incarnation it's all Dan, all the time, taking his original stoner rock and political metal influences and combining them with the ageless sounds of traditional American music; blues arrived at via life experience rather than a guitar teacher; ragged hobo ballads sung by someone who's had to eat out of a trash can; metal from someone who took the psychedelic wandering to it's fullest and wants more friends for the next round. As for genre, Dan awaits your best guess, as this is 'full spectrum rock and roll', and if it's in his heart and head and imbued with his soul, then it's Rock and Roll to him.
